Let me take a moment to thank all the Chasers and all the previous Activators as without them none of this would have been possible.

Martin (WN6E), Chris (K6CMG) and I (Bob KB6CIO) started from Brea California to do this Activation. We used Google maps to navigate the freeways to Indian Truck Trail.  Still used Google maps to get through the new housing tract roads to the actual Indian Truck Trail (the same name is continued as a dirt road) which is also known as Forest Rte 5S01 (Cleveland National Forest).

WN6E-7 part 1

The picture to the left is the off ramp from the S 15 freeway.

You need to turn onto a dirt road at approximately N 33° 44.584 W 117° 27.530 (33.74307 -117.45883). This dirt road entrance has a small sign for a Korean Church Retreat. There are no signs for the Forest Rte 5S01 until later and they are very obscure. See the pictures for rough APRS track.

I strongly recommend a 4 wheel drive high clearance vehicle. We were lucky to have Martin who is a good driver. This is a rugged road which will limit your speed in places to 5-8 mph. This is not a quick trip.

WN6E-7 part 2

WN6E-7 part 3If you continue on the road shown in the pictures it would be a good idea to note the Modjeska turn off at  N 33° 42.830 W 117° 33.127 (33.71383 -117.55212). You can see where we parked on Modjeska, however, if you have made it this far continue driving to the end of the road and you will be about 100 feet from the summit with an easy place to turn around. Where we parked is a steep up hill goat trail to the summit.
